About Tocantins

The Tocantins is one of the 27 federal units of Brazil, and its newest state. It is located southeast of the Northern Region and is limited to the south Goiás, Mato Grosso to the west and southwest, west and northwest of Pará, Maranhão in the north, northeast and east, Piauí and Bahia east east and southeast. It occupies an area of 277,620 km ², slightly larger than Ecuador, Burkina Faso and New Zealand. Its capital is the city of Palmas planned. On the national flag and national seal of Brazil, Tocantins is represented by the star Adhara (Canis Majoris).
