About Sergipe

Sergipe is one of 27 units of the Federative Republic of Brazil. It is located in the Northeast and is limited by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the states of Bahia, west and south, and Alagoas in the north, which is separated by the Rio São Francisco. It is the smallest of the Brazilian states, occupying a total area of 21,910 km ², slightly larger than Israel. In 2010, its population was estimated at 2,068,031 inhabitants, the sixth least populated state in the country.
